The first CataMax™ catalytic filter begins to take shape and will be ready for start-up in September 2017. CataMax™ is a technology developed by FLSmidth Airtech to help cement plants in the USA to be ready to comply with NESHAP regulations and strict terms of o-HAPS (organic hazardous air pollutants).

The catalytic ceramic elements can grant over 90 percent removal efficiency on many volatile organic compounds, as well as NOx, if ammonia is available in the gas stream. The fact that the filtering element cake can enhance deSOx dry sorbent injection techniques, and the dust emission rates are at the highest standard of barrier air filtration, makes this solution a new standard in all-in-one multi-pollution control.
FLSmidth Airtech has developed two different complementary products for catalytic filtration: CataMax™ ceramic filters for high temperature filtration (250 - 350 °C) and CataFlex® bags, wovenglass/ePTFE bags for temperatures up to 260°C. CataFlex® filter bags are manufactured at FLSmidth's bag production facility and catalyzed with a special formula developed in partnership with Haldor Topsøe.
