FLSmidth opens new office in Nepal

February 27, 2017 Carsten Lund

Due to promising business opportunities in the cement sector and a wish about being close to customers, FLSmidth has just opened a new office in Kathmandu which will enhance the support to the local market.

The inauguration took place the 31th of January 2017 with the participation of FLSmidth's first customer in Nepal, Mr. Bishnu Neupane, Chairman and Managing Director of Sarbottam Cement.

During the last years, FLSmidth has increased its activities in Nepal significantly. First with an order received from Sarbottam Cement in 2014 for the full scope supply of a 1200 tpd greenfield cement production line. A successful and timely execution of this project paved the way for new orders to follow. Since then, FLSmidth has executed a number of orders for clinker production lines, grinding stations, upgrades and retrofits.

The new office in Nepal will be headed by Mr. Nageswar Rao who has more than 30 years of experience in the cement industry. Prior to joining FLSmidth, he has been with Bhagwati Designs (acquired by FLSmidth) and Larsen & Toubro.

Managing Director of Sarbottam Cement, Mr. Bishnu Neupane is pleased about the initiative:

"I am glad that FLSmidth has opened a new office in Nepal. Hereby Mr. Thomas Schulz has fulfilled the commitment he made to the Nepalese cement market, during his last trip to Nepal. Now, the high quality services and modern technologies are much closer". - Bishnu Neupane, Managing Director, Sarbottam Cement
