FLSmidth teams up with H&M Construction Company on an Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) project.
Lehigh Southwest Cement Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lehigh Hanson, Inc., is looking to increase their existing cement grinding capacity by 23% at their Tehachapi plant located in California (United States). Both ball mills will use a roller press in pre-grinding mode to achieve the capacity increase (Figure 1).

FLSmidth's scope of supply will include system engineering, a new clinker bin, roller press HRP-C 1.25 (Figures 2 and 3) with its auxiliaries, weigh feeder, set of belt conveyors, nuisance filters, bucket elevators and new electrical room for this circuit. H&M will provide the civil/structural engineering and construction portion of the work, working for FLSmidth.
This will be the first roller press supplied in North America for FLSmidth in the last two decades and adds to the increasing installation list of FLSmidth’s new generation HRP systems with TRIBOMAX® wear surface. TRIBOMAX wear solution is our newest product and offers extended wear life and improved reliability, overall decreasing the OPEX cost for the equipment in operation compared to traditional hardfacing. Hence, FLSmidth was able to offer a very competitive wear life guarantee which differentiated us from our competition.

The deliveries for the project will begin in the 3rd Quarter of 2016 and the roller press is expected to be in operation by April 2017.
This order is a result of a strong teamwork, good technical solution and close communication with customer understanding their needs with this upgrade. This order will help us reinforce our products offering for grinding upgrades.
