New greenfield plant for D.G. Khan Cement Company

FLSmidth has signed a contract with the Pakistani cement producer D.G. Khan Cement Company Ltd. for the supply of equipment for an 8,500 tpd cement production line to be installed at its new site close to the village Hub in the province of Baluchistan.

Director of Technical & Operational, DR. Arif Bashir from D.G. Khan and Vice President Anders Bech from FLSmidth sign the contract in presence of the project team.

The plant is located approximately 30 km northwest of Karachi in Pakistan and will be the most energy-efficient plant in Pakistan. It will be equipped with the latest production technologies, ensuring low environmental impact and high quality products.

The contract includes engineering and all major processing machines related to raw material crushing, conveyers, stackers/ reclaimers, storage, pyro system, filters, and control and electrical systems for the complete plant.

To handle the particular characteristics of the raw materials, the raw material processing will consist of three crushers typically used in the minerals industry (two TST jaw crushers, TST 1900 and one cone crusher, Raptor® XL1100Ce) and in addition, two crushers for clay and additives (EH 150x120).

FLSmidth will also deliver storage equipment for limestone, clay, coal and a CF silo with a capacity of 26,400 tons. The pyro processing line consists of a (6-stage, 2-string) pre-heater, a 2-base kiln, and a cross-bar® cooler (18 x 70 IHRB9. Sized 5.75 x 69 m, the kiln is the largest 2-base kiln ever sold by FLSmidth.

D.G. Khan Cement Company Ltd. is a major cement producer in Pakistan and a part of the Nishat Group, which is one of the largest conglomerates in the country. The first contract between D.G. Khan Cement Company Ltd. and FLSmidth dates back to 1992. Since then, the partnership has expanded with additional orders placed with FLSmidth in 1998, 2004 and 2007.
