The Philippines presents excellent opportunities for FLSmidth. With a growing economy and increasing cement consumption, the government continues to commit to infrastructure development investments. Within these positive market conditions, we are well positioned to build on our successes and experience in the region.
55 representatives from local cement plants including LafargeHolcim, Republic Cement (CRH), Taiheiyo Cement, Goodfound Cement Cemex and Northern Cement participated in the seminar.
These were key reasons for hosting an FLSmidth customer seminar in Manila on 13-14 June. Under the theme of ‘sustainable productivity enhancement’, our aim was to present our new products and services to customers and to give them an opportunity to meet with our experts. We also wanted to provide networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities to participants.
The seminar was open to all Philippines customers, and we were delighted to see representatives from all local cement plants, including LafargeHolcim, Republic Cement (CRH), Taiheiyo Cement, Goodfound Cement and Cemex as well as the local producer Northern Cement. A great turnout saw 55 participants in all, most of whom were mechanical and process engineers.
Understanding customer priorities
Seminars provide excellent opportunities to learn about our customers’ priorities. Of greatest interest overall were the feature sessions on the OK mill and MAAG® Gear. But other topics also generated significant interest. For example, attendees cited the opportunity to acquire knowledge about O&M, learn about developments in the cement industry and FLSmidth’s technology, and hear how to enhance productivity while reducing heat power and specific consumption.
We aim to put on a seminar that is worthwhile and informative. We were pleased to achieve an overall rating of 8.6 out of a possible 10, with attendees commenting on the quality of the presentations and the knowledge of the FLSmidth experts.
All in all, it was a highly successful seminar. Thanks go to all the speakers and organisers. We now have several more business opportunities to follow up on.
