Omani cement producer expands cement grinding capacity

Oman Cement Company SAOG (OCC) has ordered on an EPC basis a complete closed circuit ball mill system from FLSmidth. The new equipment is for the expansion of OCC’s cement production facility in the Rusayl Industrial Area, 60 km from Port Sultan Qaboos in the capital city of Muscat.

Over the years OCC’s production facility has expanded from its original capacity of 600,000 tpy commissioned in 1983 to the present level of 2.4m tpy (2011). The company is now upgrading its production lines and wishes to set up a fifth grinding unit.

The contract with FLSmidth comprises a 150 tph closed circuit ball mill system and two cement silos, each capable of storing 8,000 tonnes. The scope of supply includes a high-efficiency central drive for the ball mill and a dynamic separator. Environmental protection will be provided for by means of fabric filters that reduce dust emission.
