Throughout the world, urbanisation and industrialisation are driving the need for infrastructure and improved living standards. We have a part to play in this development. It’s about contributing to the infrastructure needed for continued economic growth, while offering development opportunities in local societies. But we also have responsibilities to go with it. We are dedicated to helping our customers boost productivity, but in an economically sound way with minimum impact on society and the environment.
I hope our stories give you a sense of our commitment to meeting our responsibilities. We are extremely proud to contribute to Vietnam’s development by one of the world’s largest cement plants. In Egypt, our alternative fuel installation is enabling Arabian Cement to realise big savings by replacing imported coal and gas with biomass, tire chips and sewage sludge. Other new orders include a clinkerisation upgrade for Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited, India, and a new greenfield plant for D.G.Khan Cement Company, Pakistan.
Innovation is a cornerstone of productivity and sustainability – and there are no shortage of innovation stories covering many different product areas. You can read about our new emissions analysis tool, ReportLoq, and our new side scrapers for optimising additive storages. Find out how Aalborg Portland is benefiting from our unique TRIBOMAX® roller press surface solution, and about our hot kiln sampler for monitoring pyro processes.
We are dedicated to operations and maintenance, too. Our Service Agreement concept is helping Maple Leaf Cement in Pakistan and Ash Grove Cement in the US to improve equipment availability and reliability as well as reduce maintenance costs. And, FLSmidth Institute’s continued focus on training is helping customers acquire the competencies needed to prolong equipment lifetime.
All of these stories show how we help to boost productivity by minimising the use of resources, optimising output and maximising return on assets.
