FLSmidth Pfister – pulverized coal and petcock dosing in Egypt

Long before the Egyptian government allowed the use of coal, petcock and other alternative fuels, it was clear there was insufficient oil and gas to fire Egypt’s cement plants.

Limited natural resources and increasing consumption meant that cement producers had no other choice but to find alternative sources of energy.

Pushed by the uneconomical and, for investors, quite uncomfortable situation, cement producers started developing concepts in all directions – including wind, solar, biomass, tires, RDF coal and petcock. There was doubt about not only the feasibility and the required grinding and cement kiln dosing technologies, but also the logistics needed to bring the plans to life. 

As an industry leader in coal grinding, dosing and burning technology, FLSmidth took on the challenge to build an alternative fuel plant. And in August 2014, FLSmidth became the first to successfully commission a complete coal/petcock handling, grinding, dosing and burning plant. This plant for the Arabian Cement Company was quickly followed by similar solutions in Wadi El-Nile, El-Sewedy (ESCC) and Sinai Grey. FLSmidth wanted the best-available dosing technology, quickly identifying FLSmidth Pfister as the preferred choice of operators and owners.    

FLSmidth Pfister is not only FLSmidth’s dosing equipment supplier of choice, but also that of OEMs such as Gebr. Pfeifer and Loesche from Europe as well as different companies from China and India. These manufacturers have all found their way to FLSmidth Pfister’s pulverized coal and petcock dosing technology in their projects in Egypt and elsewhere.

Qualification:    Graduated from the University of Stuttgart-Germany as Diplom Ingenieur in Air and Space Technology. Further qualifications in mechanical design, welding engineering, quality management, dry filtration and sales.
Languages:    Fluent speaker of Arabic, German, English and French.
Professional experience:    Experience in engineering, mechanical design, industrial processes, electrostatic and baghouse dry filtration, acoustic cleaning, emissions monitoring, international sales and gravimetric dosing technologies.

More than 20 years of experience in different technical and commercial positions with established Europe-based and America-based global companies. Special focus on the cement, building materials and bulk handling industries.

Joined FLSmidth PFISTER GmbH in Germany in 2011 as Area Sales Manager for the Middle East, North Easter Africa, Pakistan and Iran from its head office in Augsburg-Germany.
